Case study
From a Budget Image to an Elegant Premium Brand: Magento 2 Store Redesign
Redesign of the Abakus Direct Furniture store carried out from January to June 2025. The project included changing the image, implementing a new visual layer and slimming the frontend.
- Magento 2
- Redesign
- Luma
- Tailwind CSS
- Alpine.js
The Starting Point and Goal of the Project
The previous version of the store was associated with cheap, budget furniture. This brand image limited development because it did not support the sale of products that were supposed to be perceived as more elegant and qualitative.
The aim of the redesign was to completely refresh the image. The new direction, inspired by elegant British online stores, was supposed to give the brand a more serious and premium character.
Technical Problem
The store also faced a serious technical problem. The existing PWA solution worked very slowly, hampered development and directly reduced sales.
Project Scope and Delivery Approach
The UX/UI project was prepared by experienced specialist Bartosz Doryń. My task was to implement a new visual layer in Magento 2 to maintain compatibility with existing modules and at the same time significantly slim down the frontend.
UX/UI Design
The new design tidied up the presentation of products, improved the perception of the brand and moved the store from a budget image towards an elegant premium brand.
Hyvä Approach
The store retained its existing Luma foundation while adding a hybrid frontend built with Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js. This preserved compatibility with existing modules and avoided a costly full storefront rebuild.
A Faster and Lighter Store
Reducing frontend bloat improved visual consistency, page speed and the mobile shopping experience.
Effect After Starting
Within two months after launching the new version of the store, the number of orders increased by 47%. The brand gained a more premium character, the store became faster and better prepared for further development on the competitive British market.
